Duke of Edinburgh

On 20th May twelve students from Year 10 bravely took on the challenge of trekking nine miles in the rain with heavy ruck sacks on their backs while successfully navigating through the Lancashire countryside using their maps to find the campsite. Tents were pitched quickly and warm camp meals cooked. A splendid evening was spent around the camp fire roasting marshmallows under the stars before a  cold night’s sleep was broken by sunrise. Bleary eyed camp was broken and another six mile walk was started, this time in wonderful sunshine,  resulting in the students reaching the top of Parbold hill for a well-earned cold ice cream . Everyone who participated did incredibly well and are well on their way to passing their Duke of Edinburgh Bronze Award.
