Year 8 Football

On Wednesday 13th February, Year 8 made the Journey to Finch Farm, Everton FC’s training complex to take part in a North West based Tournament.  The boys had been really looking forward to this, as it was a chance to see the facilities professional athletes have to train and raise hopes and aspirations that one day they may have the same opportunity.

On arrival, the boys looked on in awe, as they could now actually see how big the complex was, and the number of pitches, or was it just the number of Ferraris and Bentleys that the boys were clearly obsessed with?  Game time came, and the boys were placed in a tough group with schools from the Wirral, Manchester and Macclesfield.

Playing four games, the boys lost three and drew one, but, more importantly, they had had an experience that will live with them for the rest of their lives.  Well done to all.  Player of the tournament went to Liam McCann, for never giving up, demonstrating hope and determination in the face of adversity.
