Brownedge St Mary’s Year 7 Boys football team enjoyed a memorable milestone recently as they continued their Lancashire Cup journey with their first away fixture of the season.
After an impressive start to the competition, the squad topped their group stage with a series of confident performances, earning a well‑deserved place in the next round. Their reward was an away trip to Bowland High School — the team’s first experience playing together on unfamiliar turf.
Despite a spirited display and plenty of determination, the result ultimately didn’t fall in Brownedge St Mary’s favour on the night. However, coaches and players alike were quick to highlight the many positives. The match offered the boys a valuable opportunity to test themselves against strong opposition, adapt to new conditions, and build their confidence as a developing team.
Staff praised the group not only for their effort on the pitch but also for the maturity and teamwork they showed throughout the trip. For many of the players, the fixture marked an important step in their sporting journey, strengthening their resilience and giving them a taste of competitive football beyond their home ground.
With plenty of talent and enthusiasm in the squad, the experience is expected to serve as a foundation for future success as the team continues to grow together.
A huge well done to the Year 7 boys — an excellent effort and a performance to be proud of.
